#CollegesWeek - Six London colleges have joined forces to launch #Kickstart Essentials at a Virtual Coffee Morning this week (22 October, 9.30am). This programme complements the national Kickstart scheme going live on November 1st, helping local people into employment and local employers to recruit them. Covid 19 has caused many to lose their jobs, with more to come and the hardest hit will be those who need to retrain or lack key skills. The Kickstart Essentials provides the wrap around support to ensure each trainee has all the employability skills required to get off to a flying start.

Boost for West London as Employment and Skills Hub is set up with HS2 funds

Businesses and residents in West London are set to benefit from a new Employment and Skills Hub which has been set up with HS2 funding. The Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (@oldoakparkroyal) has been successful in its bid to the HS2 Business and Local Economy Fund, securing over a quarter of a million pounds. The hub is being delivered in partnership with London Borough of Brent, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, London Borough of Ealing, West London College and the Department for Work and Pensions.

West London College (@westlondoncol) is celebrating a successful enrolment period in part driven by their “virtual” open day held in July and a new time slot approach that allows students some one-on-one time with lecturers.

@westlondoncol has partnered with the National Careers Service (London) (NCS) and the Mayor’s Construction Academy to launch the first ever virtual construction careers event for London. #ConstructLondon, is aimed at anyone with an interest in the exciting opportunities offered by construction in London - including students, school leavers, jobseekers, employers and careers advisers. The Careers Event takes place on social media on Wednesday, 15 July 2020, from 11am – 3pm. To take part, simply log in to Twitter or Facebook and search for #ConstructLondon.  You do not need to register to take part. Employers, colleges, local authorities, career advisers and anyone involved with construction are encouraged to get involved by posting their jobs, apprenticeship vacancies, training courses and other opportunities using #ConstructLondon
