Founded in 2008 as part of a merger between Dewsbury College and Huddersfield Technical College, Kirklees College has become one of the biggest colleges in the country, offering a wide range of courses and study options.
The college boasts over 13,000 students across full time study, apprenticeships and part time courses, offering students of any age and background one of the best opportunities to achieve their goals in education.
The college is entrenched in the heart of West Yorkshire and boasts nine bespoke centres across the Kirklees region, from two main centres based in Dewsbury and Huddersfield, to specific learning centres in art, animal care, construction, engineering, media and performing arts as well as a brand new centre for process manufacturing.
Kirklees College is also committed to serving the local communities and business throughout the Kirklees region, working with over 1000 employers around West Yorkshire.
@kirkleescollege has announced its sporting partnership with @GiantsCT. Commencing in September 2020, this new partnership will see both institutions join forces to form a hybrid team featuring talented players from across the local community on various Further Education courses.
As part of the expansion of the college’s Sports Academy provision, the new Rugby League Academy can be accessed by any student studying at Kirklees College to create an inclusive team that nurtures home-grown talent, not just Sport students.
In a ground-breaking move, @KirkleesCollege has announced it is hosting a series of interactive Virtual Open Days this month to support prospective students considering their options for this September.
All staff and students at @kirkleescollege can now access free online mental health support thanks to its new partnership with @BigWhiteWall1
Big White Wall is a safe online community offering 24/7 mental health support to help its users actively manage their mental health with the guidance of trained professionals and clinicians. The service offers a range of tools and services, including online courses for issues such as stress, problem solving and negative thinking, as well as access to self-assessment and creative tools to record personal experiences and track progress.
@KirkleesCollege launched their ‘Show Us Your Tech’ competition to encourage its students to be creative in demonstrating how they are using the technology available to them at home as they continue to work remotely during the Coronavirus pandemic.
